Apart from it’s great flavor, it’s relatively easy to make and it only requires a few ingredients that you probably have in your pantry.

Custard

You shouldn’t add too much sugar to your egg mix, unless you have a sweet tooth; keep in mind that the marmalade, jam, powdered sugar or syrup you add at the end will sweeten your french toast. Also, take your time and thoroughly mix the ingredients.

Bread

Stale bread is perfect for french toast, as long as it’s not moldy. Remember that the perfect thickness for each slice should be around one inch, that way you will have a creamy inside and a crunchy exterior. Don’t forget to soak each side of the bread in the custard for a couple of minutes. 

Heat

You should use a nonstick skillet apply butter between each batch to prevent your toast from sticking. Keep in mind that you should always use medium heat, otherwise the exterior of your toast will burn and leave a soggy interior.
